Final Exam Evaluation Rubric [Oral test]
Below is the grading we use to evaluate students taking the 3A Hospitality English final exam for oral questions. There are three sections; pronunciation & fluency, comprehension, and professionalism. Our evaluators are trained to put themselves into the mindset of an international traveller. This means that understanding and communication are more important than straight linguistic and grammar.
Pronunciation & Fluency Did I understand what they said? |
0pt Unsatisfactory Student was unintelligible. |
1pt Needs Improvements Student was difficult to understand, quiet in speaking, unclear in pronunciation. |
2pt Satisfactory Student was slightly unclear with pronunciation at times, but generally is fair. |
3pt Satisfactory Pronunciation was good and did not interfere with communication. |
4pt Excellent Pronunciation was very clear and easy to understand. |
Comprehension Did they solve the problem? |
0pt Unsatisfactory Student was completely off-topic. |
1pt Needs Improvement Student had difficulty understanding the questions and topics that were being discussed. |
2pt Good Student was able to comprehend and respond to most of the questions and topics that were being discussed. |
